Project records

Engineering Projects

Project records are published as engineering files — the site, the requirement, the architecture, the execution and the outcome verified at handover. Proof over promotion.

01Record format

Every project is filed the same way.

A project record is an engineering file: what the site needed, what made it difficult, how the system was built and what was confirmed at handover. This is the anatomy each published record follows.

Specimen layout — every published record follows these eight fields. The muted entries describe what each field holds; none of it is project content.
  1. 01

    Project reference

A unique reference for the record.

  2. 02

    Site / industry

A non-identifying site description and the industry. The customer is named only with their agreement.

  3. 03

    System type

What was engineered — an instrumentation package, a PLC and SCADA system, an analyzer panel.

  4. 04

    Context · requirement · challenge

What was happening at the facility, what had to be measured, controlled or modernized, and what made it non-trivial.

  5. 05

    Scope

The disciplines involved: instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, DCS, analyzers, panels, communication, installation, commissioning, AMC.

  6. 06

    Architecture

The engineered system described layer by layer, from supervision down to the field devices.

  7. 07

    Execution stage

Survey → engineering → procurement → integration → site work → testing → commissioning, with what happened at each.

  8. 08

    Verified outcome

Only outcomes confirmed at site — a completed migration, new monitoring capability, improved visibility. No invented percentages.

02Published records

The register is open.

A record appears here only once the customer has agreed what can be shown. Each one links back to the solution, the industry and the technical topic it involved.

Publication status

No project records are published yet.

A record is published only once the customer has agreed what can be shown — photographs, drawings, screenshots and outcomes. The record format shows exactly what each one contains.

03Evidence

What a record shows.

Each record is built from primary evidence rather than description. Where the customer agrees, it includes:

  1. EV-01

    Project photographs

The installed system in its real operating environment.

  2. EV-02

    Panel photographs

Layout, segregation, wiring, ferruling and labelling inside the panel.

  3. EV-03

    Instrumentation installations

Mounting, impulse lines, cable entries and access for maintenance at the process.

  4. EV-04

    HMI / SCADA screenshots

How operators see, navigate and control the process.

  5. EV-05

    Analyzer cabinets

Sample handling, conditioning and analyzer integration as built.

  6. EV-06

    Drawings & schematics

The engineering behind the build — loops, panels and system architecture.

  7. EV-07

    Commissioning recordsWhere shareable

Loop checks, calibration and test results that confirm the system works.

  8. EV-08

    Datasheets & technical documents

The specification each device was selected and checked against.

  9. EV-09

    Case studies

The complete engineering file: context, requirement, challenge, execution, outcome.

  10. EV-10

    Principal / brand authorizationsWhere valid

    The authorizations behind supplied equipment.

Documents behind the record.

What an engineering-led project typically hands over, stage by stage. The exact set follows the agreed scope; these are the documents a published record draws its evidence from.

Project handover documents by stage
CodeStageDocumentWhat it records
SRV-01SurveySurvey report & as-found recordsProcess conditions, installation constraints and the existing system as it stands before work begins.
ENG-01EngineeringSpecifications & instrument datasheetsProcess data, range, materials, connections and output for every tagged device.
ENG-02EngineeringI/O listEvery signal between field and controller — tag, signal type, range and destination.
ENG-03EngineeringControl philosophyHow the process is controlled, sequenced, alarmed and interlocked.
DWG-01EngineeringPanel & loop drawingsGeneral arrangement, wiring and loop diagrams from field device to controller.
TST-01TestingFAT / SAT recordsFactory tests before shipment; site tests of the installed system with the plant.
COM-01CommissioningLoop-check & calibration recordsEach loop verified end to end; each instrument checked across its range.
COM-02CommissioningCommissioning reportThe system brought into operation, with open points and how each was closed.

HND-02HandoverTraining materialOperating and maintenance guidance for the people who run the system.

Project enquiry

Planning a project that should be documented like this?

Share the site, the process and the scope you have in mind. An engineer can help define the requirement, the architecture and the records the project should produce from survey to handover.
